Comedian Selvy was a man of great talent and we have lost a precious soul. Selvy had been in the entertainment industry for so many years and his work will be greatly missed. Selvy and comedy are synonymous in the Goan tiatr scene. Konkani comedy by Selvy is the most commonly searched for amongst the Goan community. Selvy’s Konkani jokes are as famous as his one could say they are the same. He is by far one of the most popular Goan comedians. Selvy is also very famous for Konkani comedy songs.

We had the great opportunity of working with Selvy on one video project, the man had a knack for making funny scenes…… it was just an inborn talent we can say Goa has lost our Mr.Bean. I can remember most of the tiatrs I watched were just to laugh at Selvy’s funny antics.

Matheus Correia, or Comedian Selvy as he was known by all, was a legendary Konkani comedian, actor, and entertainer. Born on February 14, 1974, in Velim, Goa, Selvy left an indelible mark on Goan culture.
A Star of the Konkani Stage
Selvy's primary domain was Tiatr, a unique Goan blend of song, drama, and comedy. He was known for his impeccable comedic timing, witty dialogues, and expressive body language. Audiences of all ages adored him, from children to senior citizens. His performances were guaranteed to bring laughter and lift spirits.
Beyond Tiatr
Selvy's talents extended beyond the Tiatr stage. He acted in Konkani films like "Xezarim" (2011) and "Welcome M1LL10NS" (2018), showcasing his versatility as a performer. He even ventured into directing and producing plays.
A Legacy of Laughter
Sadly, the Goan art scene suffered a huge loss when Selvy passed away on July 25, 2022, due to complications from diabetes. He was only 48 years old. Tributes poured in, hailing him as "Goa's most loved comedian" and the "Smiling Face of Tiatr."
Comedian Selvy's legacy lives on in the hearts of Goans and his countless fans. He will be remembered for his infectious humour, his dedication to his craft, and the joy he brought to countless lives.
